Thanks for all the Weird

Many obligings (not a word) to Let's Get Weird SD for inviting us to add soundwaves to their event last night. Thanks to Dead Frets, Circle Seven and Master Splinter and the Shredders for adding their specific syncopated frequency manipulations as well. Thanks for everyone for showing up, dancing, yelling, and hanging. We're on merch patrol for the next few weeks as we gear up for our CD Release Party on Feb. 23rd at Pier View. See you soon!POH at eleven

Bar Eleven this Thursday

Bar Elevn Show - 1/31/2013 Chris and I are really looking forward to this Thursday's show at Bar Eleven.  We've seen other bands play there and have played there in other bands when it was another bar but this time it will be this band, at this bar, at this time.  Sorry, I just watched Looper so I'm really analytical about this.

Doll Hut - Video Adventures

Louis Elovitz has been filming some of Southern California's most loved punk bands since 1984.  His resume includes the likes of 7 Seconds, D.I., Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Descendents and so many more.  His extensive filmography can be found at http://vimeo.com/channels/lapunk13. Louis joined us for our Doll Hut Farewell Show on Thursday, December 27th 2012.  We are grateful to be an addition to the collection of such an amazing curator of punk rock history.

All good things?

I had one of those quiet personal moments in a blaring club full of drunk people last night.  Staring at the walls of the Doll Hut in Anaheim.  Seeing the faces of so many great performers who have graced its modest and awkwardly placed stage.  Marveling at the band names whose stickers adorn every inch of the bar; some named so ridiculously it can barely be believed, others both familiar and familial. We're stoked we could get in one last show there.  Aaron from Parents put it well, calling last night's event "a viking funeral."  And that's what it was.  A solemn and dignified (PBR, dignified?) event to help finalize the memories of an old friend.  She will be missed.

Thanks to Parents, Loose Nutts, Cheefs and Nautikal for tearing it up.  Special thanks to my fellow drunk chauffer Chris for carting people all the way back home to La Mesa before heading to his own in Temecula.  You kick ass at a lot of things Chris.

Here's a mugshot of all the folks who made it on the vans with us.  Thanks for making it real you all.  Rock in Peace Doll Hut.

Welcome Home Sic Waiting

Sic Waiting spent the last 3 months traversing the US, delivering their music to people in all of its corners. During their tenure on the open road they've followed in the footsteps of Neal Page and Del Griffith, living out misadventures aplenty and coming dangerously close to running out of Del Taco hot sauce.

Come join us for a chance to say Welcome Home to these Sic-kos. Saturday, Dec. 15th at Pier View Pub. Show starts at 9 pm.

Well, the results are in from the 4th Annual Punk Rock Food Drive. food-donationsAll of the food raised combined with the money earned through sales of raffle tickets, t-shirts, artwork, vendor merchandise and online donations has resulted in 12,000 meals for North County Community Services.  That's enough to feed a family of four for over 2 years!

We can't thank you enough for this tremendous accomplishment.  Your attendance and support of Punk Rock Food Drive help us to continue this great work.  Our success is your success and the result of our collaboration is a stronger community.

online-donations

Thanks to all of the bands, vendors, donors, attendees, Let's Get Weird and the Flying Elephant for contributing to this memorable night of giving.

We met so many amazing people this year and we want to continue to move forward together.  If you have ideas that can lend themselves to an even more successful PRFD, please share them.  If you know a band or a business who may be interested in joining us for future events, send them our way.  All of our info and contacts are available at www.punkrockfood.com.  We have no desire to go this alone and are looking forward to continuing the relationships we've made and forging new ones as well.

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!
